On August 18, 2024, a high-stakes police pursuit unfolded on Interstate 40 when a silver Lexus with California tags was reported weaving in and out of traffic at dangerously high speeds, reaching over 100 mph. Arkansas State Police Trooper initiated the chase after clocking the reckless driver at an astonishing 116 mph in a 75 mph zone.
As the pursuit intensified, both Trooper and a Clarksville Police Officer joined forces, each reaching speeds of up to 134 mph while navigating through traffic. The reckless driver demonstrated erratic behavior by attempting to pass vehicles on the right shoulder, narrowly avoiding collisions.
The chase took a dramatic turn when the driver lost control, swerving and eventually overturning the vehicle approximately 15 times after crashing into the median’s cable barrier. The severe impact resulted in the vehicle coming to rest upside down, with the driver, identified as Kendall Jouett, ejected and found approximately 30 yards from the wreck.
First responders arrived swiftly, finding Jouett unresponsive and in critical condition due to severe leg injuries. He was airlifted to Washington Regional Medical Center, where he is currently in stable condition.
The aftermath revealed several items in the vehicle, including marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Jouett now faces multiple serious charges, including felony fleeing and reckless driving, among others. This intense pursuit and crash serve as a stark reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the risks faced by law enforcement daily.
